Twitter Name Tip

Here’s a tip to help people in the Twitterverse know a little about who you are/what you do just from your Tweets – consistently, and not from the words you typed in the Tweet.
In the “real name” field under “settings”, use a descriptive phrase (must be short because you are only allowed 20 characters. Then when you Tweet, people will see this phrase/tag.
_
For example, mine is “Karen J-Social Media”. I have included my real name because I do want people to know my name, but I’ve also included “Social Media” because that’s what I’m into. So, my Tweets look like this to other people:

Now, if you’re already using your real name as your Twitter name (which is a good idea, I was already all over the social sphere as “areaK” so I kept it consistent) you could even consider omitting your real name from that field altogether and use those 20 characters for your slogan, tagline, or description.
When you initially Tweet someone who is not already familiar with you, they will instantly know something about you and your field; and, others will always be reminded when they see your Tweets. Someone may not need something you offer today, but they might tomorrow, and if you are consistently reminding people of what you do, you might better your chances of them calling on you when they do need your service.
Use this little Twitter tip to consistently market yourself =)
Happy Tweeting!
Social Media Maniac,
@areaK

Another great tip Karen. I did not even think of that, and I see why it’s effective. The thing is alot of people on twitter still ask you “what do you do” although it’s in your profile, but that shows that not a lot of people view profiles as much so with that…
Including what you do in your tagline I can see why that would be important because they mainly see your tweets. They are so many ways to use twitter and get your branding out there and this is another good tip.

Twitter is very addictive. I like Twitter more than blogging. the messages are short and straight to the point.

Yes, it’s VERY addicting! As people, we naturally like to connect and socialize (well most of us LOL) so such a platform is perfect no matter who you are/what you do/what your brand is/whether you’re selling, buying, or neither/etc. If I could only do one social thing, I would pick Twitter!
